KARACHI: On the direction of Sindh Minister for Anti-Corruption Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has intensified its operations against those involved in corruption and arrested two deputy directors of District West.
According to Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Jam Zafarullah, Local Tax Department Deputy Director Mehboob Baig, and Nadeem Kamal have been arrested.
He further said that raids were being carried out to arrest former chairman DMC West Izhar Ahmed and municipal commissioner Ashfaq Mallah.
The Deputy Director Anti-Corruption informed that the arrested deputy directors have involved in Rs 50 million corruption. The cattle market contractor filled the tender for the contract of Rs. 50 million but it was not issued.
Jam Zafarullah said that the arrested deputy directors are also involved in several corruption scams. A case has been registered against them while two other accused are said to be absconding. The arrested accused are being investigated.
Earlier in June, the Anti-Corruption Department arrested two officers of the Education Department involved in fake recruitment from Ghotki.
According to details, a team of Anti-Corruption Ghotki Circle led by Inspector Ayaz Memon arrested Taluka Education Officer Abarullah Bachaio Qazi Grade 18 and former Taluka Education Officer Allah Warrayo Chachar involved in fake recruitment and tempering of government records.
