LAHORE: Social media users have expressed anger over the insensitive Tweet by human rights activist Marvi Sirmed, asking for authorities to arrest Marvi Sirmed for violation of Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Section 295-C specifically pertains to use of derogatory remarks in respect of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and other prophets. This is a crime punishable by death.

Marvi Sarmad took to Twitter and made a sarcastic comment about the state’s practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The social media users considered the tweet derogatory in nature towards Hazrat Isa (AS).

The activist in her later tweet shared the English translation of her remarks and questioned how her words fell in the context of blasphemy?

She said, “The tweet which is generating a lot of abuse, blasphemy allegations and threats. For those who don’t read Urdu: Mullah told Jesus Christ didn’t die, he was picked up by God. A simpleton asked: Was Jesus a Baloch? For Pete’s sake, how it is blasphemous? How?”

However, the social media users are having none of it and are sharing their rage over Marvi Sirmed’s for mentioning Hazrat Isa (AS) in a satirical way and demand strict action to be taken against her.

Some of the reaction of the social media users asking authorities to arrest Marvi Sirmed using the hashtag #ArrestMarviSirmed_295C:

This should not be tolerated in Islamic Republic of Pakistan and in Riyasat-e-Madina. Strict action needed otherwise another Ghazi Faisal will decide. Now the government has a chance to punish this prostitute by imposing 295C

If people like this Marvi had been strapped on time, the matter would not have reached here
What is the role of this cursed beastly woman except to lash out against holy persons or to lash out at Pakistan?
He should be hanged
