ISLAMABAD: In order to maintain religious harmony in the federal capital, Islamabad’s administration has banned the entry of several religious scholars and speakers until the end of Muharram.
According to the notification issued by the DC office, under section 144 entry of 21 religious scholars and speakers who can provoke people and incite religious disharmony by their speeches, is banned in the city.
The notification further informed that entry of Afghan refugees in the city after 7 pm, pillion riding, and display of arms, violation of Muharram processions routes, change of time of processions, and new procession other than schedule have been banned.
It is further elaborated that inciting religious disharmony, an exhibition of weapons, wall chalking, distribution, and sale of CDs, pamphlets, booklets are also banned. “Violators of the ban would be dealt with under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) section 185,” it added.
The banned religious scholars and speakers include Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, Maulana Abdul Rahman Muawiyah, Qari Wasim Abbasi, Maulana Imtiaz Kazmi, Rizwan Saifi, Allama Younis Qureshi, Mohsin Najafi, Agha Shafa Najafi, Allama Amin Shahidi and Allama Basharat Emami.
