KARACHI: Opposition parties in Sindh have launched a campaign to deport Zia-ur-Rehman, the brother of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman back to KPK.
Despite the federal government’s request for Zia-ur-Rehman’s deportation, the Sindh government did not send him back to Peshawar and he is still continuing his duty as Deputy Commissioner of Karachi Central District in Sindh.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have announced to go to court against the appointment of Zia-ur-Rehman, while PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh has started legal consultations in this regard. He said that we have to go to the courts on every issue in Sindh. “We have no personal opposition or political enmity with Zia-ur-Rehman. If you are an officer, go to your province,” he maintained.
He asked whether PMS and DMG officers had been eliminated in Sindh. The rights of Sindh officers have been violated. He said that in January, the Sindh government had sent a requisition and summoned Zia-ur-Rehman from KP.
Haleem Adil Sheikh said that the Establishment Division has given orders to return but the Sindh government is not ready to send him back.
In this regard, Shahid Soomro Advocate said that there are decisions of the Supreme Court and High Court on appointments on deputation, and appointment on deputation is illegal in any province. “We are filing a petition in the High Court against this appointment, the preparation of which has been completed,” he added.
In this regard, MQM Pakistan Deputy Convener Kanwar Naveed Jamil has also sent a letter to the Sindh Chief Minister in which he had taken a stand that the deployment of officers or employees from outside the province in Sindh, especially in Karachi, was an abuse of the locals.
The letter demanded the immediate return of Zia-ur-Rehman and appointment of a local officer as DC of Central District Karachi. The Grand Democratic Alliance had also objected to the appointment.
