ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has terminated five more pilots over possessing ‘bogus flying licences’ today (Monday), according to a notification.
As per details, the national flag carrier has informed that during the month of July-2020, it has dismissed 63 employees, including fake or tampered degrees, breach of rules, and prolonged absence.
The statistics by the PIA informed that out of the 63 employees, 28 were sacked over allegedly possessing fake or tempered degrees, 27 over prolonged and unauthorized absence, two over embezzlement, one for inefficiency, five pilots over the bogus flying license.
The national carrier further informed that four other employees were demoted over disobedience, three faced withholding of increment over violation of SOPs and over served letter of displeasure over supervisory negligence.
Earlier on July 19, the Pakistan International Airlines sacked seven of its pilots after their licenses were canceled by the Civil Aviation Authority.
A spokesman for PIA confirmed that the pilots, including an air hostess, had been sent termination letters. The CAA director-general issued license revocation letters after the government’s approval, the spokesman man added.
The Airline Transport Pilot licenses of 48 PIA pilots had been suspended earlier without show cause notices while they were given two weeks to file their reply. In the last week of June, the federal aviation minister said that 262 or 30% of Pakistan’s 860 pilots have “fake” licenses.
