KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain in the metropolis, Thatta, and Badin tomorrow on Tuesday after monsoon showers battered the city on Monday afternoon.
According to the PMD website, “Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the province. However, rain, wind and thunderstorm are expected in Karachi, Thatta, and Badin.”
At least 10 people were killed in the two days of torrential rains that lashed several areas of the metropolis. Citizens suffered due to urban flooding, prolonged power outages, and traffic jams.
Authorities informed that 10 people died in different incidents during the rains in Karachi, with seven of them — including a child — killed by electrocution.
Earlier on Monday, almost three to four feet of rainwater accumulated in certain residential areas of the city. The areas include Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Ayesha Manzil, Baldia, Power House Chowrangi, Orangi Town, and Haideri.
The accumulation of water has hampered the flow of traffic and leads to traffic jams. Despite an earlier prediction, the administration failed to solve the long-sought issue of urban flooding.
