ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has expressed that the bans on internet-based apps destroyed the tech industry.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry wrote that the bans on internet-based apps have destroyed Pakistan’s tech industry.

“Courts and PTA must stay away from moral policing and Ban Approach, such bans on internet-based Apps ll destroy Pak tech industry and development of technology ll be permanently hampered, we are still not out of woods b/o judges ill-advised interference in economic matters,” the federal minister wrote.
According to Chaudhry, the development of technology will be permanently hampered. “We are still not out of woods because of judges ill-advised interference in economic matters,” he added.

The federal minister earlier also opposed the idea of banning the popular multiplayer online game PUBG. “Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should not impose a ban on the popular game,” he asserted.
He further said that he was against any kind of ban on general products as such an attitude was tantamount to killing the technology industry. Pakistan cannot afford such sanctions, the minister had said.
He also expressed hope and said that the concerned Minister Syed Aminul Haq would take notice of the ban and would instruct the PTA not to encourage such restrictions as it would cause harm to the development of national technology on a long-term basis.
