KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has verified and cleared the licences of 21 Pakistani pilots working in Omani and Hong Kong Airlines.
Earlier, the aviation authorities of Hong Kong and Oman requested Pakistan for the verification and clearance of the pilots, working in International Airlines.
According to the details, the licences of the Pakistani pilots were declared clear after a forensic audit by the Director-General of Aviation Authority.
The pilots cleared by the CAA include Captain Fawad Shahab, Sheikh Saifullah, Mohammad Bilal Malik, Mohammad Javed, and Mohammad Rashid.
Moreover, the licences of Captain Muhammad Athar Iqbal, Muhammad Asif, Farhan Khan, Babar Sultan, Farrukh Bhatti, Sajjad Malik, Captain Zia-ul-Haq, Natasha Sultan, Abbas Rizvi, Omar Jafar, and 3 other captains were also cleared.
Separately, the Pakistan aviation authority also cleared three Pakistani pilots associated with Hong Kong airlines.
Earlier on July 18, the CAA had suspended licences of 34 pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) suspected of holding fake degrees.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had also suspended Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to operate in the region. The letter sent to the member states by EASA stated that the Pakistan CAA had revealed irregularities in the issuance of 40% of licences.
It is pertinent to mention here that many countries including the United States (US), Britain, African airlines and Bahrain government had also asked the CAA to provide the verification of their pilots.
