ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the establishment of 15 national parks across the country.
Launching the project known as ‘Protected Area Initiative’ in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the federal government will provide guidelines to all provinces on how to preserve these national parks.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that securing national parks is an important project and steps are being taken to promote tourism in the country. “This is a great initiative for our future generations and all the provinces are participating in this initiative which is a good step as it will ensure employment opportunities to the youth,” said the premier.

PM Imran Khan while warning about global warming and climate change pose a serious threat to Pakistan, he said, “The reason behind launching the ten billion tree tsunami project was to counter this threat of climate change,”
The prime minister pointed out that forests are slowly been diminishing in the country due to deforestation and construction on the outskirts of cities.
Under the scheme, called Protected Area Initiative, a national park will be made in each province. Under the initiative, the coverage of the protected area in the country will be enhanced to 15 percent of the country’s land area from the current 13 percent.
