Pakistan Army shoots down 8th Indian spy drone: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army on Friday shot down 8th Indian spy drone in Khanjar Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) for violating airspace.

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar confirmed that “Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spying quadcopter in Khanjar Sector along LOC.”

“The quadcopter had intruded 500 meters on Pakistan’s side of the LOC,” Major Gen Iftikhar added, noting that it was the eighth Indian quadcopter shot down by Pakistan Army troops this year.

Earlier, the army downed an Indian surveillance drone that had crossed over the LoC into the Rakh Chakri sector on 27 May.

According to a statement then by Director General ISPR Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, the quadcopter had intruded 650 meters into Pakistani territory.

On May 29, Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spy drone after it intruded into Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from across the restive Line of Control (LoC), the military’s media wing.

ISPR in a tweet, said: “#PakistanArmy troops shot down an Indian spying #quadcopter which came from Kanzalwan Sector, intruded 700 Meters on Pakistan side of #LOC in Nekrun Sector.”

Earlier, the Pakistan Army had shot down an Indian spy drone in Sankh Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) for violating airspace.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement had confirmed that a drone entered six metres into Pakistani airspace for spying. The army troops responded aggressively to this blatant act by shooting down the Indian spy drone.

At the turn of the New Year, on January 1, the army shot down a spy Indian quadcopter in the Bagh sector along the LoC. Within 24 hours, a second was shot down in Satwal Sector along the LoC. “Not even a quadcopter will be allowed to cross LoC, InshaAllah,” then DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had vowed”.

According to military sources, the Indian military uses quadcopters for aerial photography of Pakistani posts along the LoC as part of its intelligence-gathering operations and target selection before carrying out cross-LoC shelling.
