Govt to build infectious diseases hospital in Karachi: Murtaza Wahab

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s Adviser Murtaza Wahab has announced that the provincial government has decided to build an infectious diseases hospital in Karachi.
In a video on Twitter, Wahab said the hospital will be the first of its kind institute for infectious diseases in Pakistan. He further said the hospital which will have a 400-bed, will soon be completed and opened for the public.
He added that the facilities to treat coronavirus patients will also be installed at the hospital.”Around 100 ventilators will also be installed,” Wahab said.

In a statement, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the infectious diseases’ hospital would be first of its kind in the province. The Sindh government’s spokesperson further said, “Steps will be taken to deal with the COVID-19 at the infectious diseases hospital.”
He said that the Sindh government has been subject to a propaganda campaign by political opponents for the past few weeks portraying that the provincial health care system is substandard.
“The Pakistan Peoples Party believes in serving humanity without any discrimination and is taking different measures to tackle the COVID-19,” he added.
The Adviser further said that the critics should be aware that Sindh is the only province in the country where kidney, liver cornea transplants are done free of cost and where Pakistan has set an example in cardiac care.
Wahab said that expenditure on the province’s public health institutions is borne by the Sindh authorities which benefit the whole country.
He urged the federal government to play their part in helping people of Pakistan out of the coronavirus crisis. He said that it will be the responsibility of traders to implement the SOPs issued for opening business in the province.
He added that the provincial government will further ease lockdown restrictions if people cooperate by adopting safety measures.
