KARACHI: State-owned Pakistan Television (PTV) has achieved one million YouTube followers in one month after airing popular Turkish drama “Ertugrul”.
In a tweet, the channel made the announcement and wrote, “Due to the unprecedented following of #ErtugrulUrduPTV on PTV, and its mass appeal with Pakistani audiences, the official @YouTube channel #TRTErtugrulByPTV has crossed 1 million followers & counting!”

Earlier, PTV started a trend on Twitter with the hashtag #ErtugrulYouTubeRecord and urged everyone to subscribe to their new YouTube channel. The tweet went viral within a few hours.

Based on the Islamic victories, ‘Ertugrul’ was aired in Pakistan from the 1st of Ramzan. The serial is already a huge success with the broadcast of its first episode which has received 318,000 views.
The serial was first aired in Turkey in 2014. The storyline pre-dates the rise of the Ottoman Empire in the 13th century and revolves around a brave Muslim general named Ertugrul, also known as ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ who bravely fought the Mongols, the Crusaders, and the oppressors and maintained a series of victories.
The drama has already been aired in 60 countries in different languages before it was presented in Urdu in Pakistan. The drama is based on five seasons and a total of 179 episodes.
