RAWALPINDI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) sent a special plane to Pakistan carrying 14 metric tons of medical and food supplies to support the fight against coronavirus.
As per details, a special plane carrying medical aid and food supplies landed at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday night. The aid will help approximately 7,000 medical professionals as they work to control the spread of novel COVID-19.
Commenting on the aid delivery, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi said: “As part of the bilateral support that has underpinned brotherly relations between our two countries for decades. The UAE is proud to extend help to Pakistan in furtherance of international solidarity in the fight against coronavirus”.
He further remarked, “Through this aid, we honour the doctors and front-line healthcare workers in Pakistan and around the world, who are working tirelessly to put an end to this crisis.”
The Ambassador assured that his country would supply further aid and traditional cooperation of the two brotherly countries would continue despite the UAE is also fighting with the COVID-19 crisis.
He said that two brotherly countries would continue to share their experience in their fight against the deadly disease.
On April 2, the UAE had delivered the first batch of medical supplies to Pakistan. The second batch of 11 metric tons of medical supplies provided by the UAE arrived in Islamabad on April 5. To date, the UAE has provided more than 320 metric tons of aid to over 30 countries across the globe.
