SUKKUR: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has reviewed the lockdown situation in Sukkur during a one-day visit to the city.
While addressing a press conference, the chief minister said that the provincial authorities extended the lockdown to save the lives of people from deadly coronavirus. “The COVID-19 cases have dropped due to the low frequency of virus tests,” he asserted.
Murad Ali Shah himself drove the car with no protocol around him. He visited different areas of Sukkur to review the measures taken for lockdown.
During his one-day visit, the chief minister will also chair a meeting on the coronavirus situation. He urged citizens to follow social distancing guidelines.
Sukkur was the worst-hit city of Sindh having the most numbers of the COVID-19 patients, however, most of the infected patients at the Sukkur quarantine facility have recovered and have been discharged after they tested negative twice.
Yesterday, Murad Ali Shah said that strict lockdown will continue across Sindh for another two weeks in order to control the spread of coronavirus cases.
“Further steps are needed to be taken to counter the epidemic and it would be wrong if we claim that situation in Pakistan is better than other countries,” he said by warning further that the virus in Pakistan is as dangerous as in other countries.
