ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shehzad Akbar has said that the business community had always cooperated with the government in difficult times.
The statement came during a ceremony held at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Industry (ICCI) today (Saturday) to distribute food items among deserving people.
The ceremony was attended by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Operations Islamabad Waqar Ud Din Syed and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat.
The Special Assistant appreciated the business community and Islamabad police for their efforts in this challenging time.
Shehzad Akbar said that it was the strategy of the government to control the coronavirus spread and save business activities from destruction as well.
Referring to the construction industry, he said that to open the construction industry and its allied industries, the government was working on SOPs which should be fully abided by the business community.
Shehzad Akbar further said that the government was considering providing relief in rents and utility bills to the business community.
The special assistant also hoped that ICCI would continue to provide free food items to poor people to complement the efforts of the government for the protection of these people.
He said that COVID-19 was a life-changing pandemic. He also urged the people of Pakistan to take extra precautionary measures and practice social distancing to halt the spread of coronavirus.
