ISLAMABAD: In a newly collected data compiled by a non-profit organization has revealed over 20 lakh women residing in Pakistan do not own citizenship.
According to an Islamabad-based organization, the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) over 20 lakh women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa do not possess a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
The ability of these women to play a role in political, social and economic progress is restricted and they are unable to take advantage of public social safety, education & health services.
According to data posted on TDEA’s official page on twitter, “More than 70,000 women in Abbottabad do not possess a NIC. This means their ability to play a role in the political, social and economic progress of the country. #merishanakht #meripehchaan #pakistan”

It further added, “More than 90,000 women in #Bajaur do not possess #NIC. This means they are unable to take advantage of government welfare schemes as they are not registered. #merishanakht #meripehchaan #pakistan”
