KARACHI: The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged past 2,600 after new cases emerged in several areas across the country.
The national dashboard stated that 97 new cases have emerged during the last 24 hours and four deaths, whereas, 10 patients remained in critical condition. The total number of cases in the country reached 2687.
Punjab remained the worst affected province from coronavirus as tally crossed 1000-mark, whereas, 830 cases in Sindh, 343 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 193 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), 175 cases in Balochistan, 68 cases in Islamabad and 9 cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In this regard, Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar tweeted that Punjab now has 1,069 confirmed cases. Of these, 563 are under quarantine and 506 are non-quarantined. One patient is critical and six have recovered.
Meanwhile, 47 new coronavirus cases of local transmission have been confirmed in Sindh, taking the provincial tally to 830, according to the Sindh health department.
Out of today’s total, 38 of the cases were reported from Karachi. Fourteen people have so far died in the province from the deadly virus while 65 have recovered.
In order to improve monitoring of coronavirus related developments, Pakistan has taken a major step by establishing the National Command and Control Centre following the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
