KARACHI: The Paramedical Staff Joint Action Committee Sindh has expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the provisional government for medical staff.
The leaders of the paramedical staff committee held a key meeting in Karachi via video link. The meeting included Imam Bakhsh Atiro, Tariq Mehmood Sheikh, Khair-un-Nisa Memon, Khudabakhsh Qureshi, Noor Banu Mahal, Nazeer Detho, Ehsan Jatoi, Raza Qambar, and Rehana Kausar.
According to details, the leaders of the paramedical staff committee while addressing a key meeting said that the government deliberately wanted the increase in a number of COVID-19 patients so it could get more funds from around the world.
The committee further claimed that not a single Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit has so far been provided to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff for protection against coronavirus disease, however, the Sindh Health Ministry has yet not approved its charter of demands.
The committee claimed that the paramedical staff has not provided protective gear in Karachi, which has caused problems among the staff. The committee also expressed deep regret that the doctors who joined the NGOs on the Sindh government’s directive had no planning and ability to combat the deadly virus.
During the meeting, the committee criticised the measures being taken by the provisional government and demanded the Sindh government to immediately provide the PPE to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff across the province.
The committee said that if the health of medical workers was affected and hospitals were closed, then it would create immense trouble for the people of Sindh. We are giving a last chance to the provisional government to act immediately on our legitimate demands, or we will have to take drastic decisions, the committee warned.
