KARACHI: The lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus is affecting the livelihoods for thousands of fishermen along the shores of Karachi.
The fishermen have been one of the victims of the lockdown as their boats remain standing on the jetties as their fishing business has been closed by the authorities. Many of them are fasting shortages and unable to make any income.
Fishermen of Ibrahim Haidery area in the Karachi area have also expressed concern over the lockdown. According to fishermen Ibrahim, Mohammed, Riaz, Manzoor, and Haji Ahmed, fishermen have set their boats on the shores while a large number of fishermen have suffered a decline in incomes.
