Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan – the disgruntled allies of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has announced to rejoin federal cabinet, bringing to an end a deadlock that lasted for over two months.
The announcement came at that time when Sindh is suffering from an alarming situation of coronavirus and lockdown has been imposed in the province. Mainstream media also didn’t focus on the news because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The convener of MQM-P Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced the rejoining after a meeting with Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and said that there had been significant progress in past several days on unresolved issues between two parties.
The decision also came as the ruling PTI assured MQM-P of development funds for Karachi and Hyderabad and an addition to one more ministry at a later stage.

MQM-P leaves federal cabinet and demands
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui gave Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaaf a jolt on January 12 when he announced to leave the federal cabinet over unfulfilled promises.
However, sources revealed that the party’s real reason to leave the federal cabinet was to pressure the incumbent government to give it another ministry because Farogh Naseem – Minister for Law and Justice – has been solely working on behalf of PTI, instead of working as a representative of MQM-P in cabinet.
Another demand made by MQM-P was to include the names of Aminul Haque and Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan in federal cabinet and allocate them key ministries.
Referring to reservations, MQM-P’s leaders said that MQM-P had supported PTI not only in forming the government but also at every difficult stage, but PTI did not fulfill most of the promises it made in the nine-point MoU for the formation of new government in centre.
However, despite leaving the federal cabinet and all these reservations, Khalid Maqbool clarified that MQM-P will support the coalition government without becoming part of federal cabinet.

Before announcing to rejoin federal cabinet, MQM-P leader Amir Khan in an interview said that every political party faces every sort of time and this time MQM-P has not disappointed for no reason.
He further said that there are 9 points in one MoU and 4 points in another agreement which PTI has assured MQM-P.
“However, no agreement has been implemented for the last 17 months. Every time a new committee is created, nothing happens, he added.

The decision has shocked the political analysts and no one can predict where this new story will go further.
