KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a number of steps to make its domestic flight operations safe for passengers in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
According to a statement issued by PIA’s spokesman, all the planes for domestic flights will be disinfected with an anti-germ chemical.
It said all the passengers will be completely sanitized before allowing them to board the planes. The spokesman further said the passengers would also go through medical check-up.
Earlier, authorities had decided to suspend all incoming international flight operations for two weeks to stop the spread of coronavirus in Pakistan.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division Dr Moeed Yousaf while addressing a press conference had told the decision was made in a meeting of the National Coordination Committee chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to him the limitation on flights will be effective from the 20th of March and till 4th April. However, he said flights carrying diplomats and cargo ships will continue their operations.
He told Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be allowed to bring back its planes which are already abroad.
