The giant tech company Microsoft has announced that co-founder Bill Gates was stepping down from the company’s board to devote more time to philanthropic activities.
In a statement, Bill Gates said that he wants to focus on global health and development, education and tackling climate change.
Bill Gates said, “The company will always be an important part of my life’s work and I will continue to be engaged with its leadership.”
He further said, “I am looking forward to this next phase as an opportunity to maintain the friendships and partnerships that have meant the most to me, continue to contribute to two companies of which I am incredibly proud, and effectively prioritise my commitment to addressing some of the world’s toughest challenges.”
Bill Gates stopped being involved in day-to-day operations at the firm more than a decade ago for focusing on the foundation he launched with his wife.
The Microsoft owner was listed by Forbes as world’s second-richest man after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
