ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information has said that the federal government resolute to alleviate the burden of electricity tariffs on people.
Addressing a press conference regarding Federal Cabinet meeting, Firdous Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the authorities that the masses should not be suffered due to gaps in supply of electricity.
Firdous Awan informed that the Energy Ministry apprised the Cabinet about flawed policies of previous government which resulted in increase in electricity tariffs.
Firdous Awan said that PM Imran directed the Ministry to devise an inclusive method so that increase in prices due to Neelum Jhelum Surcharge or circular debt is not passed on to ordinary people.
The Ministry of Energy apprised the cabinet with on the supply of power, prices of electricity for domestic and commercial consumers and goals for bringing these prices down.
Commenting on Coronavirus, Firdous Awan said that the premier has also directed the concerned authorities to take preventive measures against outbreak of Coronavirus in Pakistan.
The cabinet was informed that not even a single case of Coronavirus has been reported so far in Pakistan.
Referring to US president’s visit to India, Firdous Awan said that the cabinet also discussed the visit of US President Trump to India.
The cabinet said that the defeat of the Indian narrative during this visit is a victory for Pakistan.
The cabinet was apprised on economic data and the reduction in prices of essential items.
The authorities informed the cabinet due to effective measures of government, a strong message has gone to various mafias resulting in a reduction in prices.
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed complete support in the context of Justice Faez Isa’s case and assured that government fully backs the steps in the constitutional and legal ambit.
The Cabinet gave approval to the construction of high rise buildings in the surroundings of Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
