ISLAMABAD: The supreme court observed that people who hold fake degrees are not eligible for any jobs, and all following degrees are also fraudulent if the matriculation certificate is fake.
A two-member Supreme Court bench led by Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the petition challenging the promotion of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Justice Bandial’s questioned to the employees, “What does PIA have to say about the promoted staff.” A representative from the PIA told the court that all are doing their job extremely well. “We have no concerns.”

Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Tariq Banuri told the court that Al-Khair University had issued time-barred degrees before 2009 and that they were formally declared acceptable, “Those who easily obtained degrees after 2009 were asked to completely re-sit the exams,” Dr. Banuri said.
Justice Bandial questioned, “On what basis you declared the time-barred degrees appropriate,” responded the HEC chairman, “In 2009, a notice was issued to Al-Khair University. And the university was closed from 2009 until 2011.
Justice Bandial questioned if the PIA, on its own or on court orders, started an investigation into the fake degree issue. The PIA spokesperson claimed that the PIA conducted the investigation on the Supreme Court’s orders.
