Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has officially confirmed the sequel to the iconic film 3 Idiots, putting an end to months of speculation.
The actor revealed that the new installment will revisit the lives of Rancho, Farhan, and Raju a decade after the events of the original film.
In a recent interview with Amar Ujala, Aamir Khan shared that he has heard the story and was highly impressed by its concept. While the script is still under development, he described the storyline as unique and said it will retain the humor and charm that made the first film a massive success.
The sequel will pick up from where the original left off but will incorporate a 10-year time jump, exploring how the characters’ lives have evolved over time. The beloved trio, Rancho (Phunsukh Wangdu), Farhan, and Raju, will reunite on screen.
The project is being developed by acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi. Aamir Khan also expressed excitement about reprising his role as Rancho.
Released in 2009, 3 Idiots remains one of Indian cinema’s most influential films, widely praised for its take on education, friendship, and following one’s passion.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s planned biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke has been postponed due to script-related issues.
