The US government has alleged that foreign actors, particularly entities based in China, are systematically attempting to acquire American artificial intelligence models and technology.
According to an official report issued by Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the US President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, foreign groups, especially those operating from China, are making organized and large-scale efforts to access advanced US AI systems.
The U.S. has evidence that foreign entities, primarily in China, are running industrial-scale distillation campaigns to steal American AI. We will be taking action to protect American innovation.

The document says that these entities are using thousands of fake and proxy accounts to infiltrate AI platforms and bypass security barriers. Through such methods, they aim to extract sensitive and valuable information from American AI models.
US officials say these activities are part of a coordinated campaign designed to benefit from America’s technological capabilities and research leadership.
The report also says that the United States holds a global leadership position in artificial intelligence, built on decades of research, private investment, and innovation.
This technology has played a significant role in economic growth, national security, and scientific advancement.
