Massive increase recorded in the prices of ghee and cooking oil in the wholesale market as rising inflation continues to impact essential commodities, according to recent reports from grocery merchants.
Traders state that the price of first-grade oil and ghee has risen by Rs30 per kilogram, moving from Rs560 to Rs590. Meanwhile, second-grade oil has experienced an even sharper increase of Rs35, climbing from Rs510 to Rs545 per liter.
Similarly, second-grade ghee has also become more expensive, with a hike of Rs25 per kilogram. Its price has increased from Rs510 to Rs535 per kilogram.
Market traders warn that these continuous price hikes are placing an increasing financial burden on ordinary consumers, who are already struggling with broader inflationary pressures.
Industry sources attribute the rising prices to a significant increase in production and transportation costs.
Officials from the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) indicated that escalating operational expenses have left manufacturers with little choice but to revise prices upward.
