Heightened security measures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have disrupted routine life, forcing several universities to shift to online operations and suspend on-campus activities.
Authorities tightened security across the twin cities on Sunday, sealing major roads and suspending public transport amid expectations of possible US-Iran talks in the federal capital.
In response, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (Barani University) announced the closure of its main campus until April 26 due to security concerns.
According to an official notification, all classes will be conducted online, while students residing in hostels have been directed to vacate their rooms immediately. Faculty and staff have been instructed to work from home during this period.
Similarly, International Islamic University Islamabad shifted all classes online from April 20 to April 24 and postponed midterm examinations scheduled for April 20 and 21. The university also introduced a partial work-from-home policy for staff until April 30.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Medical University postponed examinations for Allied Health Sciences students. University administrations said the measures were taken to ensure safety amid an uncertain security situation.
