A marble mine collapsed on March 31, killing eight workers and injuring three, while one miner went missing. Now, rescue officials have found him alive 16 days after the collapse, in what has been described as a miracle.
As per details, the Rescue 1122 on Thursday rescued the missing miner Abdul Wahab in Rustam tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district.
In a video statement, Rescue 1122 media coordinator in Mardan, Syed Abbas, said in a statement that the man was pulled out of a tunnel in the Darang area.
He said that one of the deceased was also initially identified as Abdul Wahab, a resident of Mohmand, raising concerns about possible identity confusion.
He added that it is now feared that another miner, Khyber, may have been among those killed in the incident.
Abbas said the rescued man is receiving treatment at Mardan Medical Complex.
He further said that the Mardan deputy commissioner and the Rescue 1122 district emergency officer have formed a committee to investigate the incident and verify the identities of those affected.
