KARACHI: Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), has underscored the critical need for a technologically advanced and balanced naval force during the formal induction of the second PN MILGEM-class corvette, PNS KHAIBAR, into the Pakistan Navy’s active fleet.

Speaking at the ceremony, Admiral Ashraf highlighted Pakistan’s strategic position along key maritime trade and energy routes, stressing that a robust navy is essential to protect national interests and secure vital Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs).
He referenced Operation Marka-e-Haq, asserting that the Navy’s demonstrated capability—including the credible threat to sink an Indian aircraft carrier—forced the Indian Navy to retreat to safer waters, sending a clear deterrent message.
The CNS noted that the Navy is being equipped with cutting-edge platforms and precision technologies capable of targeting adversary infrastructure and naval assets.
The induction of PNS KHAIBAR and the upcoming HANGOR-class submarines represent pivotal steps in modernization, boosting operational flexibility, combat readiness, and strategic reach. He concluded by congratulating the crew of PNS KHAIBAR and reaffirming the Navy’s unwavering commitment to defending Pakistan’s maritime sovereignty.
