Massive relief for Punjab bikers as CM wipes out fees, drops petrol subsidy

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif just dropped a bombshell of a relief package that is going to be a game-changer for the millions of people who rely on two wheels to survive.

If you’re a bike owner in Punjab, your wallet just got a whole lot heavier. Here’s the “boots-on-the-ground” report of what’s happening.

1. The “Zero-Fee” Era Begins
The first thing you need to know is that the government has officially abolished motorcycle registration fees. Gone. Zero. To make it even better, they’ve also waived all transfer fees.

This isn’t just about saving a few thousand rupees at the excise office; it’s a massive push to get every bike in the province legally registered in the owner’s name without the financial “fine” that usually comes with it.

2. Monthly Cash & Fuel Subsidies
The Chief Minister didn’t stop at paperwork. She’s putting money directly back into people’s pockets. Every single registered motorcycle in Punjab is now entitled to:

  • A Monthly Subsidy of Rs 2,000: Direct relief for the owner.
  • 20 Liters of Subsidized Petrol: For those 20 liters, you get a massive discount of Rs 100 per liter.

In an economy where every liter counts, this is essentially the government footing the bill for a significant portion of a commuter’s monthly fuel run.

3. “Maryam ko Batayn” – How to Get the Cash
The government is leaning hard into digital to make sure this doesn’t get lost in red tape. They’ve launched a three-pronged approach for citizens to claim their relief starting immediately:

The Hotline: Citizens can dial 1000 to get registered.

The App: The “Maryam ko Batayn” app is already hitting the Play Store. It’s designed to be the one-stop shop for the subsidy.

The Portal: For the web-savvy, the portal is live at https://mkb.punjab.gov.pk.

And, people have already started applying to get relief as MM News finalizes this good news.
