Sam Altman, Chief Executive of OpenAI, has stated that while artificial intelligence is creating vast opportunities for humanity, it may also give rise to new risks that require collective efforts to address.
In a post on the social media platform X (Twitter), he said that AI can support advanced scientific research, particularly in discovering treatments for diseases, which could improve quality of life in the future.
However, he cautioned that the technology also carries risks that cannot be ignored.
According to Altman, addressing the potential negative impacts of AI is not the responsibility of any single company, but requires coordinated global and societal action.
He warned that advanced and powerful AI models could have profound effects not only on societies but also at a global level, including potential biological risks.
Although he did not elaborate on these concerns, experts have already indicated that rapid advancements in artificial intelligence could lead to systems that may pose harm to humans.
