The Government of Sindh has decided to keep schools closed until 31 March.
Following the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and rising fuel prices, authorities in Sindh have taken the step of shutting educational institutions after a similar decision in Punjab.
Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that educational institutions will remain closed from 16 March to 31 March. However, examinations will continue as scheduled, while colleges and universities will conduct online classes during this period.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s Office Sindh said the provincial cabinet has approved a digital monitoring system for schools, formally adopting the Student Attendance Monitoring and Redress System policy.
Under the new system, a mobile application and digital dashboard will be used to maintain records of student attendance and admissions. According to officials, the initiative is expected to help reduce absenteeism and lower dropout rates.
The cabinet was also informed that the digital monitoring system will be implemented in all schools across Sindh within one year.
