A woman was allegedly gang-raped after being lured with the promise of free ration in Daska, Punjab. Police have registered a case and arrested the suspect.
According to officials, the City Police Station registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim’s uncle. The FIR says that the accused allegedly assaulted the woman at gunpoint after calling her to collect free ration. The initial medical report has revealed evidence of rape.
Police said the suspect has been taken into custody and an investigation is under way. The victim has undergone a medical examination as part of the legal process.
In a separate incident in Chak 86, Bahawalnagar, a landowner and his accomplices allegedly abducted a 16-year-old girl after her father, a laborer, refused to marry her off to the suspect.
According to police, the suspects opened fire, injuring the laborer and his son, before forcibly taking the girl away in a car. The injured father and son were shifted to hospital in critical condition. The suspects have been identified as Mubeen Ahmad and Shamas-ud-deen.
Police said they reached the scene after receiving information and launched an investigation. Villagers told officers that the landowner had proposed marriage to the laborer’s daughter, and when the proposal was rejected, he and his accomplices allegedly stormed the house, shot the father and son, and abducted the girl.
