A fire broke out at a factory located in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone on Tuesday. Authorities have declared the incident a third-degree fire due to its intensity.
According to rescue officials, 10 fire brigade vehicles and two snorkels are actively engaged in firefighting operations. The factory is reported to be involved in the manufacturing of plastic goods, which has contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
Chief Fire Officer said that traffic congestion in the area has created difficulties for fire brigade vehicles in reaching the site on time, slowing down rescue efforts.
The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety in Karachi’s industrial and commercial areas. In the recent past, major fire incidents, including the devastating Gul Plaza fire, which resulted in significant loss of life, have highlighted issues such as poor emergency access, congestion, and inadequate safety measures in densely populated business zones.
