British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, professionally known as Central Cee, has revealed that he has converted to Islam.
The announcement came during a recent livestream, where the 25-year-old artist shared that he had taken his shahada and officially embraced the faith. “I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” he said, with friends in the stream congratulating him.

Prior to this revelation, Central Cee had not publicly declared a formal religion. Born on June 4, 1998, in London to an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese descent, he grew up in Shepherd’s Bush with his mother and two younger brothers after his parents separated when he was seven.
Central Cee began his music career in 2014, appearing on the now-deleted series Fire in the Streets, and later featured on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix with J Hus in 2015. His breakout single, Day in the Life, arrived in June 2020, propelling him to stardom in the UK drill scene.
Since then, he has become a key figure in modern UK rap, blending drill with catchy hooks and thought-provoking lyrics.
In 2024, he was the most-streamed UK rapper globally, bridging the UK rap scene with international audiences. Central Cee has hinted he may adopt a new stage name following his conversion, though details remain private.
