The Pakistan Meteorological Department has released an important forecast regarding the expected beginning of Ramadan 1447 Hijri, indicating a strong possibility for the holy month to commence in the third week of February 2026, subject to moon sighting confirmation.
According to the Meteorological Department, the moon of Ramadan will be born on February 17 at 5:01 PM. By February 18, the moon’s age in Karachi will be approximately 26 hours, making it suitable for visibility.
In the city, the sun is expected to set at 6:25 PM, while the moon will set at 7:24 PM, which improves the chances of moon sighting in Karachi.
Experts say that weather conditions in most parts of the country are likely to remain partly cloudy, but for the moon to be visible, its age must be at least more than 19 hours.
It must be noted that the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, acting at the federal level in Pakistan, holds the authority to officially determine the moon sighting for the commencement of Islamic months
