Islamabad authorities have uncovered a major child exploitation network involved in producing, buying, and selling obscene videos of minors. A key suspect has been arrested, over 600 videos have been recovered, and investigations are expanding to uncover connections both locally and on the dark web.
The suspect reportedly lured children by posing as a girl, recorded obscene videos, and also blackmailed them.
According to officials, the arrested suspect, Taimoor Mahmood from Murree, was caught in Rawalpindi. He had over 600 obscene videos of children in his possession. On social media, he posed as a girl to lure underage children and then blackmailed them using the videos.
Investigations also revealed that the suspect shared videos and pictures of children, both locally and internationally, through various WhatsApp groups with accomplices.
A case has been registered against the suspect and the administrators of the WhatsApp groups under the PECA Act, and the scope of the investigation has been expanded.
Authorities have also started investigating the suspect’s links to the dark web. He had been continuously blackmailing children through the videos and was also involved in extorting money for other purposes.
NCCIA officials said that a comprehensive investigation has begun, other involved individuals will be arrested soon, and the facilitators are also being identified.
