Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed that fire safety and hydrant systems has been made mandatory for all high-rise building, adding that high rise building should be sealed if they fail to comply the safety rules and regulations.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave these directives while chairing an emergency meeting with commissioners and deputy commissioners regarding fire safety.
The CM directed that PERA force should conduct safety audits of all public and private buildings along with other departments. She directed that safety standards in public and private buildings should be strictly implemented.
Meanwhile, the on the orders of Secretary Housing Department Noor ul Amin Mengal, 108 fire hydrants will be installed at Lahore’s important places, buildings and public areas in city. The locations of fire hydrants have been determined.
During the meeting, Secretary Housing directed that safety and security of fire hydrants should be ensured.
DG WASA told Secretary Housing that the relevant market committees will be responsible for the security of all fire hydrants. He said that a plan has been drawn up to complete the installation of fire hydrants by March 1.
More than 1150 fire hydrants will be installed at important locations across the province. Punjab Emergency Service Department to use fire hydrants.
