A refreshing spell of rain accompanied by cool winds swept across Karachi on Thursday, significantly dropping the city’s temperature.
Rainfall was reported across nearly all major pockets of the metropolis, such as Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Gul Plaza, and the Old City areas of Kharadar and Shershah, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karsaz, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Jail Chowrangi, Kashmir Road, Defence, Surjani Town, Baldia, Maripur, Hub Road, and Malir.
The pleasant weather was quickly overshadowed by administrative hurdles. Shortly after the first drops fell, power supply was suspended in several localities.
The city’s road network also faced severe pressure. Massive traffic jams were reported on major arteries, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road, and Liaquatabad. Commuters faced grueling delays as long queues of vehicles formed at notorious bottlenecks such as Aisha Manzil, Water Pump, and Nagan Chowrangi, where the flow of traffic remained gridlocked for hours.
