US President Donald Trump has said that Venezuela’s interim authorities will hand over 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States. The oil will be sold at market rates, and the proceeds will remain under his control.
Trump stated that it would be ensured the funds are used for the benefit of the people of Venezuela and the United States.

Meanwhile, Russia has demanded the immediate release of Venezuela’s president from the US.
Trump added that oil from Venezuela would be transported to the United States and said he had instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement the plan.

According to news agencies, Venezuelan crude oil will be exported to US refineries. The United States has suspended imports of Venezuelan oil since mid-December.
It is expected that chief executives of US oil companies will visit the White House on Thursday to hold talks on investment in Venezuela.
It may be recalled that US forces last week detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and transferred them to the United States.
