United States President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the US might launch a second military strike on Venezuela following the capture of President Nicolas Maduro if remaining members of the administration do not cooperate, while threatening his Colombian counterpart, saying he believed the government in Cuba, too, was likely to fall soon.
While speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, President Trump said that the United States should have full access to oil and other resources in Venezuela. He warned that if Venezuela does not adopt the right approach, the U.S. will carry out another attack.
The American president also issued threats to Venezuela’s newly installed Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and other countries in the region, saying that if Delcy Rodríguez does not act correctly, she will pay a price even heavier than Maduro.
Using harsh language about Cuba, he claimed that the Cuban government is going to collapse on its own very soon. He said that military intervention may not even be necessary, because Cuba’s income used to come from Venezuela, and now it will no longer receive that support.
President Trump said that Colombia is being run by a “sick person” who is interested in producing cocaine and selling it to the United States, but he will not be able to continue doing so for long.
President Trump was asked whether he was talking about a U.S. military operation against Colombia. In response, he said that he liked hearing about the possibility of U.S. military action against Colombia’s current government.
During his conversation with journalists, the U.S. president also warned Mexico, saying that if Mexico does not fix its system, the United States will have to take some kind of action.
