A major terrorist plot was foiled in Karachi as security forces arrested a suicide bomber and seized over two tons of explosive material and a mini truck along with gas cylinders during an intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Baldia Rais Goth area.
Officials said the suspects were preparing large-scale attacks on crowded locations across Karachi, including suicide bombings aimed at causing widespread casualties.
The explosives, vehicle, and gas cylinders were concealed inside a house in Baldia Rais Goth, where the final stages of planning were reportedly underway.
As per media reports citing security sources, credible intelligence regarding terrorist activity in Karachi had been received earlier, prompting a sustained operation.
For nearly a week, security agencies conducted round-the-clock surveillance, tracking suspect movements and identifying militant hideouts in Karachi and surrounding areas.
This operation ultimately resulted in the recovery of the explosive material and the arrest of the suicide bomber.
Preliminary investigations indicate that those involved are affiliated with the proscribed BLA Bashir Zeb faction, which officials have also labeled Fitna-e-Hindustan. Sources added that militants, facilitators, and handlers connected to the group have been operating from Afghan territory, using it as a base to plan and support attacks targeting Karachi.
