Astronomers have announced the expected dates of major Islamic and public occasions for 2026, including Ramazan, Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha. According to experts, the moon marking the start of Ramadan is likely to be sighted in Pakistan on 18 February.
They have predicted that the first day of Ramadan will fall on 19 February.
The Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted on 20 March, with Eidul Fitr likely to be observed on 21 March. Similarly, the month of Zilhaj is expected to begin on 17 May, and based on scientific calculations, Eidul Adha may be celebrated on 27 May.
Meanwhile, the Government of Pakistan has also issued the complete schedule of public holidays for 2026 across the country. Experts noted that some religious holidays depend on moon sighting and may therefore be subject to slight changes.
According to the report, there will be around 17 public holidays in Pakistan in 2026, including Kashmir Day, Eidul Fitr, Pakistan Day, Labour Day, Eidul Adha, Independence Day, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), Iqbal Day, Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
