The National Dialogue Committee (NDC), consists of former leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has formally contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and demanded the release on parole of Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other senior leaders currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The National Dialogue Committee welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for talks and requested that the senior PTI leadership detained in Kot Lakhpat Jail be released on parole.

Members of the National Dialogue Committee, Mahmood Molvi, Imran Ismail, and Fawad Chaudhry, demanded the release of Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Umar Cheema, saying that these leaders would be able to play an effective role in the negotiation process.

Fawad Chaudhry posted a tweet on the social media app X, writing that the success of negotiations depends on meaningful confidence-building measures. Without such steps, the negotiation process cannot be successful or sustainable.

The former federal minister wrote that the Prime Minister should release the senior PTI leadership from Kot Lakhpat Jail on parole.

— Ch Fawad Hussain (@fawadchaudhry) December 24, 2025

He said this step would create a very positive and pleasant atmosphere for negotiations and would also provide a strong foundation for restoring trust among all parties.

He added that confidence-building measures can play a key role in making negotiations result-oriented and can help steer the country away from division and conflict toward unity and development. All political parties should participate in this process while prioritizing the national interest.

It is noteworthy that the letter does not mention PTI founder Imran Khan; instead, it focuses on the point that the senior party leadership, they believe, can play an effective role in initiating and sustaining the negotiation process.
