The Punjab government is preparing to introduce a new electric bike scheme for teachers across the province.
Under the proposed scheme, teachers will be able to obtain electric bikes by paying only an initial instalment. The remaining payments are expected to be made easier, possibly through arrangements at the level of educational institutions.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a proposal is also under consideration to provide free scooters to female teachers as a special relief measure.
According to officials, the scheme will apply to female teachers working in government-sector institutions who meet the required service standards.
Further details of the scheme are expected to be announced once the proposal is finalised.
