Pakistan’s security forces have killed nine militants in two separate operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on 19 December against militants linked to an Indian proxy group, referred to as Fitna Al-Khawarij.
In the first intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, security forces targeted a militant hideout. After an exchange of heavy gunfire, four militants were killed.
In a separate operation in Bannu district, security forces killed five more militants, the ISPR said.
The military stated that the killed militants were involved in attacks on security forces and law enforcement agencies.
They were also linked to several terrorist incidents, including targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operations. He said Pakistan remains fully committed to the complete elimination of terrorism from the country.
