Police reportedly used a water cannon on PTI founder Imran Khan’s three sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Khan, and Azma Khan, who were staging a sit-in outside Adiala jail after being denied a meeting with the ex-premier. Several party workers were arrested during the operation, and Shahid Khatak, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), sustained a broken leg.
The sit-in, led by Aleema Khan and joined by Imran Khan’s sisters Uzma and Noreen, took place outside the jail on Tuesday after they were once again denied a meeting with the former prime minister. Senior PTI leaders, including Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and KP Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan, also participated in the demonstration.
On Tuesday, after being unable to meet their brother, Imran Khan’s sisters, accompanied by around 30 party workers, staged a sit-in near the factory checkpoint close to Adiala Jail. The protest continued for over five hours, until 2:30 a.m., prompting authorities to impose tight security in the area.

Police established checkpoints under Section 144 at multiple locations, while shops, markets, and petrol stations near the jail were closed. Nearby educational institutions remained shut for the day. A heavy police presence and water cannons were deployed at the protest site.

Police contacted Imran Khan’s sisters twice, advising them to disperse, before deploying a large contingent at the site.
Late at night, police launched an operation to end the sit-in. After using the water cannon, protesters were dispersed. According to police, some workers also threw stones, and several individuals were taken into custody. The operation involved a large contingent of Rawalpindi police.
During the operation, police seized several vehicles and transferred them to Rawat Police Station. Most of the vehicles belonged to various government departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha shared a video on social media showing the use of the water cannon on Imran Khan’s sisters.
During the operation, MNA Shahid Khatak was seriously injured, sustaining a broken leg. Meanwhile, Farzana Saeed fell into a drain amid the scuffle, sustaining injuries to her face and body. Other participants were also affected due to chaos and stampede-like conditions.

In a statement on the social media platform X, PTI condemned the police action, stating that despite court orders, Imran Khan’s family was denied a meeting, which prompted the sit-in. PTI said that protesters were dispersed using water cannons in extreme cold, even though women were part of the demonstration.
The statement further claimed that Imran Khan’s rights as a prisoner were being denied, and the constitutional rights of party workers were also affected.
