MQM-Pakistan has demanded that Karachi be declared a federal territory, saying Sindh should divided on administrative grounds.
Addressing a public gathering in Karachi’s Malir area, senior MQM-Pakistan leader and Member of the National Assembly, Farooq Sattar, said that if the demand to declare Karachi a federal territory is not accepted, then MQM will call for the creation of new provinces.
He added that if Karachi can be divided on administrative grounds, then Sindh can also be divided.
Farooq Sattar said that Karachi’s funds belong to the people of this city, and it is their responsibility to oversee them. “Our job is not just to claim rights but to secure those rights,” he said.
Speaking at the rally, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said they are working to build an ideological MQM. He added that it must be seen who is obstructing the path to progress, and urged workers who have stepped back to come out and support the party.
Khalid Maqbool said that if six districts can be created in Karachi, then six administrative divisions should also be formed in Sindh.
He added, “We are all workers, do not let anyone become a ‘personality leader.’ Avoid personality worship. Next year is yours; if you don’t change yourselves, time will change you.”
