Armenia has suspended its planned purchase of Indian Tejas fighter jets following the destruction of one of these aircraft at the Dubai Air Show.
According to international media, Armenia and India were negotiating the purchase of 12 jets worth $1.2 billion. Had the deal been finalized, it would have marked the first major export contract for the Tejas fighter jet.
Reports indicate that Armenia’s cancellation of the order will also result in tens of millions of dollars in losses for Israel Aerospace Industries, as several advanced components, including radars manufactured in Israel, are integrated into the Tejas jets.
It is worth noting that on November 21, during the Dubai Air Show, an Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed, resulting in the death of the pilot.
